We offer several different classes for adults. The Wesley Class meets in the original church building, in a large classroom near the back of the sanctuary. This class is usually engaged in study of the scriptures. The Inquirers Class meets in Room #21E, second floor of the Education Building. This class studies a variety of topics. The Upper Room class meets in a room directly above the Wesley Class. This class studies the scripture passages which are being used in worship. Our fourth class, the Gods Way Class, began as a parenting class but has branched out into other areas of study. This class meets on the second level of the education building. Each of the adult classes meets at 9:30 except the Upper Room Class, which begins at 9:15 to accommodate those who need to warm up with the choir, and the Gods Way Class, which begins at 9:40 to accommodate parents who drop their children off at various classes.

Wesley Class

Here are plans for Sunday School adult classes for summer 2009.

God’s Way:  The class is not meeting this summer.  They will continue their study of the Old Testament in September.

Wesley:  The Wesley Class is still discussing Bp. Job’s Three Simple Rules. Once they finish that, they will try to gain a deeper understanding of the model for the Christian life, Jesus. They will use a set of works from Cokesbury called “The Jesus Collection”, beginning with The Coming of Jesus, by Gayle Carlton Felton.

This book takes look at the setting into which Jesus was born, examining Old Testament prophecies birth narratives, Temple rituals for newborn boys, and the flight to Egypt and return.

In addition, the text explores some of the traditions dealing with Jesus' "hidden" years and describes the physical, cultural, and religious surroundings in which Jesus was raised.

Upper Room:  The class is just finishing the study of Matthew.

Inquirers’ Class:  Paul Richter will hold forth on Sunday, June 14 on conservation as a means of Doing No Harm.  Specifically he will talk about the Buckhannon River Watershed.  Phyllis Coston will continue on Wesley’s “Three Simple Things” through the end of June.   Her focus will be on “Staying in Love with God.”  Then John will take on two topics:  Who wrote the Bible (Old Testament) and notes on the Book of Daniel.  A study of the Psalms will come up after that.
