If you are accustomed to a traditional worship service, you will find that at First Church some things will be quite familiar (the Lords Prayer and the Doxology, for instance), but you will also encounter some new things. We use a wide variety of music from The United Methodist Hymnal, The Faith We Sing, and other resources. We put the words on a screen for those who would like to look up, and we provide books for those who would like to read the music as well as the words. We also use the screen to provide all the guidance you will need to participate fully in worship. Come next Sunday at 10:45 and join us in praising God.
We at First Church are conscious of the Christian Calendar, and we believe that our faith offers us many reasons to celebrate. In addition to our celebrations on Sundays at 10:45, we offer special services on Christmas Eve and during Holy Week. We also offer a series of Lenten Luncheons each spring, with devotional messages by area pastors. We have an Easter Sunrise service as well. Come celebrate with us!
Be sure to join us in Linger Hall, which is located directly behind the sanctuary, following our worship service each Sunday morning for fellowship and refreshments.
Childrens Time and Childrens Church
During Sunday morning worship the children are invited down to hear a short object lesson that always sends them to Childrens Church smiling and feeling uplifted. Not only do the children learn a valuable lesson, but the adults seem to find the message inspiring as well! All year, children in kindergarten through grade 2 have the option of going to Childrens Church after they hear the message at Children Time. In Childrens Church, the children are led by caring adults from our church family in a worship service put together by our Program Director Ronda Paoletti, designed specifically for children through grade 2. Childrens Church offers activities that help to ease the transition into full participation in the worship service. Children hear a sermon, read from the bible, learn the Lords Prayer, sing songs and make a craft at the end. The children have a great time and the adults get as much reward from leading as the children do attending!
