While McDowell County has been the historic base of operations for the work teams, recent teams have migrated to serve communities in Logan County as well.

Any youth entering 9th grade or older is eligible to participate, as well as any adult interested in helping our fellow West Virginians. Work team members are expected to assist and participate in fundraising efforts to support the mission trip.

For more than a decade, work teams have been a part of the ministry of First Church. In the summer of 2004, we sent one team to McDowell County, West Virginia, where we built stairs and a 70-foot wheelchair ramp. We sent another team to Logan County, West Virginia, where we painted a house perched on a steep hillside, replaced roofs, and toured the site of the infamous Buffalo Creek Flood. Youth and adults alike report that their experience with the work teams has had a profound impact on their lives.
